Heal Your Energy at Home with Heather McCall

We chatted with Heather McCall, Energy Healer and Reiki Master, about how to clear our bedrooms, unwind, and heal our energy for sleep. Four legged furry friends included.

How did you first get involved in Reiki and energy healing?

I was living in NY and had an acupuncturist who was a reiki master. He had helped me give up smoking ! One day he suggested giving me my first Reiki attunement. I had no idea what Reiki was.  It was a very profound experience. I was 28 years old. I became a master within two years. Through time, as I work with different modalities and my own channeling and healing techniques, Reiki was always something that I referred back to. My North Star if you like. I give workshops and attunements now and feel very honored to be a part of this tradition.

How can we clear our bedrooms/space before bedtime?

I often spray a room before sleep – The Moodbeam line that Sleep Code carries is excellent. My favorite tool is so simple and yet effective – a set of crystal tuning forks or angel tuning forks. I simply tap one end of the tuning fork either with a crystal or another fork and move the sound in a figure 8 around the bed, perhaps under the bed, any mirrors in the room, doorways. You can use any bell if you don’t have tuning forks and even clapping works !  If it has been a particularly difficult day I would smudge using palo Santo or light some incense – I am obsessed with the Tennen Studio incense range.  Intention is everything, so set your intention for the room as you clear. The Catherine Rising Pine Meadow Smudge Sticks available at Sleep Code are also just fab.

What are some tips for keeping our energy clear throughout the day?

SCISSORING

I recommend a technique called Scissoring – raise your arms above your head and cross them in front of each other as if you are scissoring the energy in front of you. Bend the knees and move the arms in this motion all the way down the body and then back up, stop with your hands above your head. The affirmation that should be said as you move up and down is “I disconnect from anything that doesn’t belong to me and I send it to its right domain”. Use this on your animals too ! Dogs never get cleared.

KENYOKU  (Dry Bath)

This is a Japanese Reiki Technique for purification using your hands to clear your body instead of water. Move your hands in smooth strokes across your body, not forgetting the back of the body. Go all the way down to the feet and back up. Rub your hands together and shake off when finished.

UNHOOK

Place a finger on your third eye and flick the energy up and out of the third eye, disconnecting you from people, places, situations, thought patterns  that cause anxiety or blockages.

LIGHT PADDING

Imagine that there is the ability to funnel in light from above, let it fall into the whole body, allowing it to move into the heart and other organs, then let the light leave the body about one or two inches, in essence creating a light padding. Keep the padding active as you move through your day.

Last but not least, play some music and have a dance ! One of the easiest ways to shift energy in the body.

What can we do in a moment of anxiety to clear our energy and find balance?

Put your hand on your heart and check in. Ask your heart two simple questions ‘How are you feeling? what do you need? “ and get curious for feedback. Breath. If the stomach is particularly stressed or the throat, move to those areas. Follow that with a very simple mantra “I’ve got you….(your name) and repeat. I like to hold  two pieces of kyanite  when I feel jumbled. If I am confused or have been hit energetically by a person or situation, I take a palm stone selenite and place it on third eye, move the stone straight up the forehead over the crown of the head and off the neck, repeat on the sides of the head. Move the selenite in figure 8’s over heart and stomach and throat. Two drops of Dr. Bach Rescue Remedy in a small amount of water is sometimes very helpful. Put a couple of drops directly onto heart chakra.

Can you describe how you see energy as a healer?

There is a lot of vibrational movement to energy work so when you clear and balance people or spaces it looks like the physical body is shifting and moving, even rooms look like they change shape. With this undulating affect you can see colors emerge and sometimes the colors give us feedback about the emotional quality of what is being rebalanced. If organs are in need of work there can be this grey tone that blankets the area. When energy is released sometimes it can look like the features are pulsating forward in the face, usually different colors emerge when that happens and indicates the shifting and releasing of stagnation.

What are common blocks or issues you find in your client’s energies?

The energy system is so sophisticated, each person is so different.  There are usual places that energy gets stuck. The first three chakras are the one’s where early trauma reside but also very basic, primal fears – will I make it through covid ? Do I have enough money ? Sometimes bigger questions like  Who am I ? But then you also have the hidden issues- for example past life energy that hasn’t been cleared, karmic energy, entities or curses. Often people will have me work on them just because they cannot understand what is standing in their way and that’s where a clearing of the hidden issues can be so transformative.

Do you feel that technology in general, and specifically before bed, disrupts our balance?

Yes, no doubt about it. I try to get off the computer and phone an hour before bed but I am rubbish at not turning off my phone at night. I am a huge believer in the Golden Fire Generators that clear EMF energies from twistedsage.com and my home is scattered with these.

What can we avoid doing before bed to keep our energy clear?

The news. Calls with people that may be difficult. For me, scary movies.
